· Are you a practical, safety-first person and great with maps and diagrams? · Locate underground services with precision using specialised equipment! · Awesome range of employee benefits About the role We’re looking for a Cable Locator to join our Networks Survey team. This is a field-based role where you’ll play a key part in locating underground electrical services across WEL’s network, helping protect critical infrastructure and keep people safe. You’ll be out on the network using specialised equipment, interpreting plans and diagrams, supporting fault response work when needed and working closely with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities · Locate underground electrical cables and services accurately and safely · Use specialised service locating equipment and network drawings · Support fault response and repair activity when required · Report network abnormalities and help maintain accurate GIS and as-built information · Plan and coordinate site activities · Work closely with operations staff, control centre, dispatch, GIS and other utilities Skills and experience · EWRB registration as an Electrical Services Technician (Level3) · Electrical industry knowledge – specifically distribution underground systems · Knowledge of industry safety requirements · Ability to read and interpret diagrams and technical drawings · Electrical safety statutory requirements · Basic computer skills Best-in-class benefits At WEL, we look after our people, and you’ll benefit from a powerful package of benefits: · Medical, life and income protection insurance · Flexible working options – ability to purchase additional annual leave, 9-day fortnight, and much more · Relocation costs, and · An excellent salary package, including annual salary reviews, on-call allowance and overtime We are committed to making sure our people go home safe every day, and with a drug and alcohol-free worksite we will require you to undertake testing as part of your pre-employment health assessment as well as participating in our annual health assessment programme.
