Reporting to the Chief Building Official (CBO), as the successful candidate you serve as one of the team of territorial regulatory officials responsible for design and delivery of compliance programming to the National Building Code of Canada (NBC), National Plumbing Code of Canada (NPC) and other adopted codes or standards pursuant to the Nunavut Building Code Act (BCA). This position will work independently and as a team member under the supervision of the CBO. Buildings include those used for assembly, institutional, residential, commercial, mercantile and industrial occupancy, and range from simple to complex in size and design. Department of Community Services The Department of Community Services (CS) in the Government of Nunavut provides essential community-facing services, ensuring accessibility, safety, and economic development across the territory. It oversees economic development, land use planning, consumer affairs, safety services, emergency management, and the Government Liaison Office (GLO). By supporting local businesses and responsible land development, the department fosters sustainable growth while protecting consumer rights and ensuring fair business practices. Safety services and emergency management help safeguard communities by coordinating responses to public safety concerns and natural disasters. The GLO function enhances government accessibility, creating a one-stop shop for Nunavummiut to access services and support.
