Position Summary The Assistant Laboratory Manager supervises daily laboratory activities and personnel in the area of responsibility (e.g., writing procedures, employee scheduling, laboratory inspections, Quality Control, new instrument setup and correlation, proficiency testing, employee evaluations and disciplinary coaching, and other special assignments). Recommends personnel for hiring and/or termination. Performs clinical laboratory testing when routine bench load warrants 50% of the time. Assist with employee training and competency. Assumes responsibilities of the manager in their absence. Assists with budget preparation. Minimum Requirements BS Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Biologic Science. MLS/MT (ASCP, AMT, HEW, or equivalent) certification is required. Four (4) years of current/related clinical laboratory experience is required: ECUH Medical Center Lab: Department specialty or area of concentration. ECUH Community Hospitals: Generalist experience to include Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Blood Bank. The facility offers medical and surgical services, including intensive care, a specialty care clinic and a dedicated outpatient surgery area with endoscopy capabilities. A 7-bed emergency department serves approximately 15,000 patients per year and team members at the facility have access to a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
