Austin, TX: on-site position, relocation assistance available $100,000/year W2, weekly pay Full-time: direct daily engagement with K-8 students The greatest impact you can make on a student isn't teaching them algebra. It's helping them believe they're capable of figuring out algebra independently. If this resonates with you, if you've seen traditional classrooms strip curiosity from bright children and wondered whether a better approach exists, continue reading. Alpha is a private school that has dismantled conventional instruction. Students progress through academics using adaptive learning software at their own speed, advancing up to 2x faster than their peers. Software alone doesn't cultivate resilience. It doesn't prepare a timid 7-year-old to stand before a group and speak confidently. That's where you come in. You'll dedicate half your day to facilitating one-hour life skills workshops, coaching students in public speaking, teamwork, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. The remaining half involves 1:1 and small-group motivation sessions where you develop authentic connections with students, establish challenging academic objectives, and ensure they meet those goals daily. This isn't a soft mentorship position. You'll measure concrete results: every student reaching their academic benchmarks, demonstrating mastery on life skills assessments, and rating you at 90% or higher. The most resistant students are often those who need your support most, and transforming a reluctant child into one who genuinely wants to participate represents the most challenging and fulfilling aspect of this work. Those who consistently produce strong student outcomes here advance to leading and developing others, influencing how an entire campus approaches student coaching. If creating impact through daily execution interests you more than waiting for a title promotion, your path begins here. Apply now. What You Will Be Doing Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 student groups, teaching public speaking, teamwork, focus, and feedback skills through organized activities and narrative techniques Conducting 1:1 and small-group motivation sessions where you establish goals with students, monitor their advancement in academic applications, and step in when they lag behind Adjusting your approach across a broad age spectrum: coaching a kindergartner requires entirely different methods than challenging a 13-year-old Delivering Test2Pass assessments to verify students have genuinely mastered the life skills you've taught Leveraging student profiles, performance data, and coachbot analytics to understand precisely where each student stands prior to every session What You Won’t Be Doing Teaching academic subjects. Students master math, reading, and science through adaptive software, not classroom instruction. Creating lesson plans from the ground up. You'll operate from an established life skills curriculum and playbook. Grading assignments, handling report cards, or preparing students for standardized exams. Student mastery is evaluated through assessments you deliver, not administrative tasks. Working from behind a desk. This role requires being active, in the room, engaging face-to-face with students throughout the day. Academic Coach Key Responsibilities Drive a cohort of K-8 students to achieve mastery in life skills and reach ambitious academic targets. Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree in any field 3+ years of direct experience working with K-8 students Demonstrated history of motivating or coaching K-8 students toward goals exceeding baseline expectations, with at least one concrete example you can describe in detail (the objective, your actions, the result) Willing to work on-site in Austin, TX (relocation support available) Comfortable operating in a non-traditional learning environment centered on motivation and engagement rather than instruction Legal authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship Nice-to-have Requirements Experience coaching or mentoring in youth sports, competitive academic programs, or organized enrichment camps Background in behavioral motivation approaches such as goal-setting frameworks, incentive systems, or accountability structures Proven ability to connect with disengaged or resistant young students and achieve turnaround results Experience leading group sessions for mixed-age groups of children About Alpha Want to join a learning rebellion that’s transforming the traditional classroom?
