Wound Care Transcriptionist Quick Apply Overview Salary Range $17.00 - $21.00 Hourly Quick Apply Description Advantage Surgical and Wound Care heals wounds and treats surgical conditions in the post-acute environment through conservative, evidence-based care. We limit unnecessary and expensive treatments, emergency room visits, and hospitalizations. We achieve optimal outcomes by coordination, collaboration, and education with patients, their caregivers, and other healthcare professionals. Transcriptionist Overview: Our skilled medical providers perform rounds in Skilled Nursing Facilities and Home Health Care settings providing wound care at either their bedside or in-home facility. While seeing patients, either the Provider or their Wound Care Assistant produces handwritten rounding form. The handwritten rounding forms are received by the Transcriptionist to enter in the electronic health records system (EMR) for final approval of the Provider. Responsibilities: • Interpret and transcribe written notes and medical abbreviations into patient history, exam notes, operative reports, referral letters, discharge summaries, and other documents • Expected average of 45 notes transcribed daily or 4 notes per hour on average • Review and edit drafts prepared by a provider, making sure that the transcription is correct, complete, and consistent style • Translate medical abbreviations and jargon into the appropriate long form • Identify inconsistencies, errors, and missing information within a report that could compromise patient care • Follow up with the healthcare provider to ensure that reports are accurate • Submit health records for providers to approve • Follow patient confidentiality guidelines and legal documentation requirements • Use medical coding to populate diagnoses and procedures completed (ICD-10, CPT, E&M) • Upload medical records into electronic health records systems • Adhere to established protocols and work processes • Successfully manage volume without compromising quality • Enter timely, as indicated by medical provider, accurate and detailed documentation of the encounter • Knowledge of medical and anatomy terminology • Submission of completed paperwork once notes are approved by Provider Qualifications: • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills • Strong attention to detail • Advanced computer skills • Knowledge of medication terminology and CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred • Must exhibit passion for outstanding results and compassion for those we work with • Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times • Be a team player and maintain a professional attitude with typical job stresses Physical, Environmental and Mental Requirements: • Ability to read handwritten progress notes and become familiar with medical terminology, wound care procedures • Good finger dexterity to prepare reports • Good visual acuity to proofread reports • Ability to sit upright for long hours • Ability to average 4 notes per hour with the expectation of 45 notes per day • Ability to type at least 40 to 50 words per minute accurately • Works well under pressure due to time and accuracy requirements • Must be flexible and adaptable to varying note styles of Providers In Turn We Will Provide Full Time employees: • Comprehensive medical and dental coverage • Voluntary life insurance • Voluntary short-term and long-term disability insurance • 401K plan • Paid holidays and generous paid time off
