Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Volunteer Frontend Developer to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining responsive web applications that power the Yoris ecosystem.

You will work closely with product managers, designers, and backend developers to translate business requirements and user needs into intuitive, scalable, and high-performance frontend experiences.

This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on real-world products while contributing to the growth of one of Africa's emerging logistics technology platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain responsive web applications.
• Build modern user interfaces using Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
• Develop scalable state management solutions using Redux Toolkit and RTK Query.
• Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and services.
• Build reusable components, libraries, and development standards for future use.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.
• Optimize applications for speed, performance, accessibility, and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and sprint planning sessions.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve frontend bugs and performance issues.
• Accurately translate user requirements and business needs into functional frontend solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Hands-on experience with Next.js and React.js.
• Experience with Redux Toolkit and RTK Query.
• Understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and frontend-backend integration.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Understanding of component-based architecture and modern frontend best practices.
• Ability to work independently in a remote team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Previous experience working on production web applications.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development methodologies.
• Experience with UI libraries, design systems, or Tailwind CSS.
• Understanding of frontend performance optimization and testing methodologies.
