Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides high-level design solutions for intuitive user experiences across multiple media platforms through information architecture, visual design and initial user interface development for websites. Designs innovative and comprehensive visual and functional solutions for websites, including micro-sites, online promotions, ad banners, emails, e-newsletters, e-vites, mobile, and other digital interfaces. Conducts research through analysis of current behaviors and future needs, interviewing key stakeholders and/or target audiences, and studying leading practices and emerging trends. Designs wireframes, production quality mock-ups, and clickable prototypes as well as production ready graphics, HTML, and CSS for interfaces, templates, and websites. Shepherds design and review process from concept wireframes and storyboards, to digital presentation comps, to final executed products. Provides creative direction, and guidance on the work of junior web designers. May lead/or and mentor other designers in establishing best practices for digital interactions. Helps develop coherent information architecture and navigation systems for complex, multi-level sites with multiple sections and cross-linking pages. Ensures projects incorporate all stakeholder requirements, employ best practices in user interface, navigation, usability, accessibility, search engine optimization, and work in all browsers on all devices. Collaborates closely with other team members such as web developers and designers on implementing static and interactive designs. Assists in content development and visual management for the University's top-tier web pages, social media sites, and other assigned online accounts. Monitors websites for outdated information, expired pages, broken links, and technical problems. Designs and produces graphics, templates, illustrations, icons, and other digital artwork for use in related communication projects (online, print, environmental graphics, video, etc.). Follows defined branding guidelines as required. Assists in establishing project specifications and adheres to production schedules for all assigned projects, Creates and updates documentation relating to project status, process, location of media assets, and use. Stays abreast of current trends in web design, usability, and information architecture, including current web aesthetics, with demonstrated mastery of typography, color theory, and use of space. Maintains a mastery of a variety of graphic creation and editing programs such as Adobe Creative Suite. Possesses strong visual, verbal, and written communications skills, excellent problem solving skills, and works effectively with a wide variety of University staff, including direct client interface on projects. Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree and five years of experience digital, interactive, or multimedia design or related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Graphic design, user interface design and/or information architecture experience preferred. Must possess working knowledge and demonstrated practical ability in contemporary coding solutions such as HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, jQuery, and responsive web design for mobile websites. NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA.
