They are now seeking a highly capable Joinery Technical Designer to join their technical design team. This role focuses on transforming approved concepts into precise, production-ready technical information for manufacture. Using SolidWorks, you will develop detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings that support design, procurement, and production teams to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and outstanding build quality.

About The Role

As a Joinery Technical Designer, you will play a vital role in bridging the gap between design intent and manufacturing execution.

You will be responsible for converting approved designs into comprehensive technical packages that enable efficient procurement, production, and installation. Working closely with design, procurement, and manufacturing teams, you will ensure that all technical documentation is accurate, coordinated, and aligned with internal quality standards.

Responsibilities – What you'll be doing:

• Developing detailed 3D models using SolidWorks for bespoke joinery and furniture projects.
• Producing accurate manufacturing and workshop drawings to support production activities.
• Translating approved designs into production-ready technical packages.
• Creating assembly drawings, component breakdowns, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Updating and revising drawings following internal reviews and design changes.
• Supporting the resolution of technical detailing issues in collaboration with the wider design team.
• Providing accurate technical information to procurement and production teams.
• Maintaining drawing control systems, documentation records, and revision registers.
• Ensuring compliance with internal drafting standards and quality requirements.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance technical efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements – What we're looking for:

Essential

• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Demonstrated experience in 3D modelling and technical drawing production.
• Strong technical understanding and excellent spatial awareness.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.
• Willingness and ability to work UK business hours.

Desirable

• Experience within joinery, cabinetry, or furniture manufacturing environments.
• Background in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Exposure to CNC manufacturing processes or workshop environments.
• Experience using AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with SWOOD or similar SolidWorks-based woodworking software.

Work Schedule

As the client is UK-based, you will be required to work to UK business hours:

Monday to Friday

09:00 AM – 05:00 PM BST

10:00 AM – 06:00 PM SAST

Pay & Benefits – What we offer:

• R330,700 - R463,000 per year commensurate with experience and technical capability.
