Job Description Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join our IT Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the availability, performance, security, and lifecycle management of our Microsoft SQL Server platforms, supporting business‑critical applications in a 24/7 enterprise environment. You will act as a technical authority for database operations, contribute to automation initiatives, and collaborate closely with infrastructure, application, and project teams. This role follows a hybrid working model, with an expected minimum on‑site presence of 8 days per month. It is not a fully remote position, as close collaboration with operations, infrastructure, and project teams is essential. Key Responsibilities Database Platform & Operations Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments (2016 and above) Ensure stable and reliable database operations across development, test, and production environments Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation (approximately 7–10 days per month) Performance, Availability & Recovery Monitor database health, performance, and capacity Analyze and resolve performance issues using native SQL Server tools Design and maintain backup, restore, and recovery strategies Implement and operate High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions Security & Compliance Ensure database security, integrity, and access controls Protect databases against unauthorized access and evolving threats Support audit, compliance, and operational best practices Automation & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational tooling (PowerShell, Ansible, dbatools) Continuously improve database standards, procedures, and operational efficiency Provide metrics and reporting related to database usage, performance, and reliability Collaboration & Support Work closely with application teams, developers, and project teams Respond to incidents and user‑reported issues in a timely and professional manner Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands‑on experience as a Database Administrator for Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) Strong expertise in SQL and database performance tuning and optimization Solid experience with backup/restore strategies and recovery models Practical knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions Experience with Windows Server environments, including Active Directory Proven problem‑solving skills and analytical mindset Strong communication and documentation skills in English Ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 operational environment Team‑oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership Nice to Have / Assets Experience with SQL Server Always On Experience with SSIS, SSRS, SSAS (configuration & troubleshooting) Exposure to Azure SQL Databases or hybrid environments Experience with dbatools Familiarity with ServiceNow and Azure DevOps Experience with other database platforms (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) Microsoft SQL Server certifications and/or Azure certifications like AZ-900 Please note that this is a permanent position, and we do not offer freelance/contract arrangement for the role.
