Who We Are Cali Fluff Co. is a joyful, heart-led pet wear brand creating intentional custom embroidered products for fluffs and the humans who adore them. We’ve built a loyal, engaged community of dog and cat lovers who genuinely love being part of what we’re creating. Community is not just a marketing channel here, it’s the brand. We’re a small, founder-run business, and this role is a meaningful one. You’ll be the consistent, warm presence that keeps our community feeling seen and cared for every single day. About the Role We’re looking for a Part-Time Social Media Contractor (1099) with 1–2 years of hands-on social media experience, ideally supporting an e-commerce brand, with bonus points for small business experience. The heart of this role is community engagement. You’ll be the first point of contact for our community across Instagram (primary platform), with light support on TikTok and Pinterest. You know how to show up warmly, consistently, and on-brand without needing to be hand-held. Content support, captions, story graphics, light Reels/TikTok editing, is part of the role, but it’s secondary. If our community feels alive and the founder feels supported, we’re doing it right. What You’ll Do Community Engagement Reply to comments and DMs in a warm, playful, on-brand voice Reshare tagged stories and comment on tagged posts in a timely manner Engage authentically in our brand community spaces Flag sensitive, urgent, or unclear messages to the founder promptly Contribute to our brand rep program—the founder leads it, but you’ll have a real voice in shaping how we engage our reps and dreaming up fun ways to keep them excited and involved Content Support Draft captions and content concepts for review Create story graphics in Canva using brand templates Reel/TikTok editing/creation Spot trends, seasonal moments, and community highlights worth sharing—and move quickly when something is worth jumping on Track performance, plan ahead, and brainstorm fun content ideas, keeping us intentional and a few steps ahead Who You Are 1–2 years managing social media for a brand, preferably e-commerce or small business Fluent in Instagram, you understand how the platform works and what good engagement looks like Comfortable with Canva, TikTok, Pinterest, and basic content editing tools Reliable and consistent, you don’t need reminders to check in; you just show up Quick on your feet, when a trend pops up or a moment is worth jumping on, you recognize it and move without waiting to be told Genuinely curious and not afraid to ask questions—you’d rather ask once and get it right than guess and go sideways A strong communicator who takes initiative—you proactively flag things, give ETAs when plans shift, and never go quiet when something is unclear Resourceful and self-directed, you figure things out, try things, and loop in only when it actually warrants it Warm, genuine communicator who can nail a brand voice quickly A pet person at heart, you’ll feel right at home here How We Work Together This role exists so the founder can stay focused on product and creation. That means the goal isn’t just to execute tasks, it’s to take genuine ownership of the community experience so it’s one less thing to think about. You’ll thrive here if you: Can operate independently without needing step-by-step direction Communicate proactively, a quick “heads up” goes a long way here Ask good questions early instead of spinning or going silent Can pivot quickly when something time-sensitive comes up (a trending sound, a seasonal moment, an unexpected spike in DMs) Take pride in the community feeling alive and cared for, even on days when it’s quiet behind the scenes This is not a role where someone checks in once a day and calls it done. It’s also not a role where you’ll be micromanaged. The sweet spot is someone who is genuinely plugged in, communicates well, and makes the founder feel like the community is in good hands. Hours & Compensation Independent contractor (1099), part-time, approximately 10 hours per week Compensation: $200/week flat rate, based on deliverables and services provided (not hours tracked) Fully remote A note on scheduling: This is a contractor role, and we don’t dictate your schedule. That said, CFC’s core community engagement activity happens between 8 am – 4 pm PT. Regular check-ins during this window (once an hour) are important to maintaining our community response standards. Content work, drafts, and other deliverables are flexible on timing. If you have a schedule that makes consistent daytime availability difficult, this role may not be the right fit, and that’s okay! We’d rather be upfront about it. Why You’ll Love Working With Us Your work directly supports a woman-owned small business doing something genuinely joyful You’ll have real ownership — not just task execution Room to grow: strong performance opens the door to expanded hours and scope A community full of dogs, cats, and the humans who are obsessed with them
