As we continue to grow, we are looking for a seasoned Senior Systems & Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT Operations team in Malta who operates on-prem infrastructure (mostly Linux-based) and manages databases, networks, CDN, WAF, and our AWS footprint. The team is in charge of maximizing uptime and enables the organization to deliver services to our partners and internal stakeholders. Main responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain Linux-based infrastructure (Ubuntu and Enterprise Linux) across on-prem, virtualization and containerization platforms. Troubleshoot complex network and routing issues BGP, DNS, connectivity, and performance problems across on-prem and cloud environments. Troubleshoot dotnet applications and coordinate with Support and Developers teams to detect and fix any potential issues. Maintain and Troubleshoot hardware issues in server platforms (DELL, HPE, SuperMicro, etc). Manage and optimize web services and proxies, working with CDN, WAF, load balancing, and PKI infrastructure. Operate and tune MySQL and Redis instances, including replication, backups, and performance troubleshooting. Implement and maintain automation and configuration management using Ansible, Opscode Chef, and Rundeck for repeatable, auditable operations. Manage and secure AWS resources, particularly S3 and IAM, following least-privilege and security best practices. Administer identity and access management with tools like FreeIPA or LDAP and integrate them across the infrastructure. Use Zabbix, Grafana, VictoriaLogs and other log aggregation tools to monitor systems and applications, define metrics and alerts, and improve observability. Handle Linux storage management (filesystems, LVM/RAID, capacity planning, performance tuning). Participate in and help improve incident management, including on-call, incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews. Collaborate with application teams (e.g., Dotnet applications) to support deployments and troubleshoot issues. Contribute to security event handling: investigate alerts, assist with remediation, and help apply hardening and best practices across the stack. Contribute to IT Security audits: vulnerability evaluations, penetration testing, evidence collection. Essential Skills: Very Strong experience with Linux systems administration (Ubuntu and Enterprise Linux). Solid network troubleshooting skills (Ethernet, BGP, DNS, TCP/IP, Load Balancers) Proven experience operating production infrastructure (baremetal, virtualization and cloud). Hands-on experience with automation and scripting using Ansible, Python, and Bash. Experience with monitoring and observability tools Zabbix, Log Aggregation. Experience with relational databases (MySQL) and basic caching (Redis) operations. Experience running web workloads (web servers, proxies, TLS, reverse proxies, etc.). Experience with AWS (S3, IAM). This role is primarily remote, with occasional visits to our Malta office.
