Your personal scope: The Senior Scientist contributes to infrastructure, research and teaching in the field of computational communication science (CCS). The focus is on computational methods, especially the creation and maintenance of local server environments, scrapers and other computational tools, software packages, knowledge- and data spaces. The Senior Scientist will be part of the Computational Communication Science Lab (CCL) and will assume the role of a support and help-desk for social scientists using advanced methods. The position is initially limited to two years with the possibility to be made permanent. Your future tasks: The Senior Scientist performs the following tasks, among others: Maintaining a state-of-the-art knowledge base on text, image and multimodal analysis, network analysis, computational modeling and simulation Acting as advanced methods help desk for the CCL Setting up and maintaining local server environments Setting up and maintaining scrapers and other computational tools Maintaining state-of-the-art knowledge base on access options to social media platform data, including expertise in applications through the DSA Setting up and maintaining shared data spaces for large-scale text, image and simulation data Teaching in CCS methods Co-supervision of PhD and Master thesis involving complex computational methodology (Supporting) writing and submission of grant proposals This is part of your profile: PhD in the Social Sciences, preferably Communication Science Excellent publications in CCS Advanced skills in a range of CCS methodology, including but not limited to text, image and multimodal analysis, network analysis, simulations Experience with third- party funded projects Supervision experience Very good knowledge of English Experience in teaching CCS methods What we offer: Work-life balance: Our employees enjoy flexible working hours, remote/hybrid and/or part-time work (upon agreement).
