Senior Professional Liability Claims Representative

Apply Job Type Full-time Description The Senior Claims Representative will directly handle miscellaneous professional liability claims of varying complexity for a variety of professions, including real estate agents, insurance agents, lawyers, allied health medical professionals, interior designers, journalists, estheticians, travel agents, accountants, financial advisors, and more. This position will require the ability to analyze coverage issues in addition to routine claim adjusting functions, a willingness to adapt to our rapidly growing business, and excellent time management skills. Additionally, the position will involve extensive coverage letter drafting and frequent communication with internal and external parties. Strong writing and interpersonal skills are essential. Job Responsibilities Manage an active desk of litigated and non-litigated claims of varying complexity under miscellaneous professional liability coverages Recognize exposures and ensure reserves are adequate and timely Evaluate coverage issues and identify risk transfer opportunities Manage litigation by proper expert selection, planning, budgeting and partnership with defense counsel Strong negotiation skills Effective communication both internally and externally Proactively manage claim resolution, including formation and implementation of resolution strategy, settlement valuation and obtaining settlement authority Actively participate in mediations as needed, within limit of settlement authority Manage allocated loss adjustment expense through strategic handling and bill review/payment processing in coordination with the billing unit Appropriately document claim files in accordance with established guidelines Maintain adjuster licenses, as required This position may require occasional travel to attend mediations, trainings, trials and/or other related meetings Requirements Qualifications Education & Licensing: BA/BS degree required Active home state adjuster license required AIC, SCLA, CPCU or other industry designation a plus Juris Doctorate preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 3+ years of experience handling professional liability claims preferred Prior experience handling litigated claims Ability to work in a fast paced environment Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and meet assigned deadlines Promptly respond to inquiries with a sense of urgency Ability to work in a collaborative and cooperative virtual office environment Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize tasks with frequent interruptions Ability to follow instructions and established procedures Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and internet applications Highly attentive to details Able to work under pressure and execute good judgment in sensitive situations Strong interpersonal skills About Us biBerk is where commercial insurance buyers can obtain coverage for their businesses from insurers of the Berkshire Hathaway group of Insurance Companies, one of the best capitalized insurance groups in the world. In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
