As an early member of our engineering team, we need someone who is product-minded, driven, and comfortable working across the stack. Your immediate focus will be building the best agentic AI experience for government procurement. We believe AI agents will fundamentally change how government buyers and contractors work, and we are building that product. You will work closely with the CTO to define and ship this vision. Govly’s primary app runs on Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/React, Postgres, Redis, and Elasticsearch. We use Claude Code and MCPs heavily in our development process. This role will start as an individual contributor with end-to-end ownership. Team growth will be driven by results and business needs, not assumed on day one. What You Might Work On Build a world-class agentic AI experience for government procurement, from agent architecture to user-facing artifacts and workflows Shape the direction of how AI is used across the product by bringing strong opinions on agent design, evaluation, and UX Build AI agents that leverage our proprietary procurement data to autonomously generate documents, reports, and insights Iterate on features that drive cross-organization collaboration on government opportunities Extract, normalize, and aggregate data from thousands of government procurement sources Find ways to tie opportunity data to publicly available award data What You Will Do Use a deep understanding of the problems our customers face to build software that people love Drive end-to-end implementations of features: design data models, build APIs, implement frontend components, write tests Utilize Claude Code and MCPs to augment your workflow Write clean, readable code that balances quality, scalability, and speed of implementation Work in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment Push the quality of our agentic AI experience to compete with the best consumer AI products on the market What You Are Expected to Be Excellent At Getting things done quickly and using AI tools to move faster Writing code across the stack (Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/React, Postgres, Redis, and Elasticsearch) Building with LLMs (prompt engineering, agent architectures, tool use, evaluation) Shipping end-to-end features from data model to frontend Making smart tradeoffs between quality, scalability, and speed What We Are Looking For A passion for programming and being at the intersection of product, design, and engineering Strong product engineering background with a track record of shipping features end-to-end Comfortable working across the stack, whether it is building APIs in Rails, writing SQL, extracting information with the help of an LLM, or driving out user-facing features in React Experience building with LLMs and AI tools in production, with opinions on how to do it well You are interested in and excited about staying at the forefront of AI and bringing those ideas back to the product Thrive in a remote environment Want to deeply understand our business and market and use that to help drive our product forward Give and take constructive feedback well Can define, articulate, and follow up on the KPIs of your work Bonus Experience with web scraping and data extraction at scale Experience with government procurement or B2G markets Experience with Elasticsearch or similar search infrastructure Signals You Will Succeed Here You have a get-it-done attitude and do not shy away from unglamorous work You use AI tools like Claude Code daily and are always looking for ways to move faster You obsess over making the product better, not just shipping tasks You are comfortable with ambiguity and can turn a vague problem into a shipped feature You have strong opinions about how AI products should work and are not afraid to challenge existing approaches Why This Role Matters Govly has product-market fit, differentiated data, and growing demand from federal customers.
