This role is designed for experienced professionals who can own complex client implementations end-to-end while elevating the team around them . As a Senior Consultant, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our clients , a technical or functional leader on projects , and a mentor to junior consultants . You’ll balance hands-on solution delivery with leadership responsibilities—helping shape solution design, guiding team members, and ensuring successful client outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working directly with clients, and scaling their impact through others . Our team implements solutions to help retailers with: Forecasting Replenishment Allocation Assortment Planning Merchandise Financial Planning Location Planning What you will do: Client Leadership & Delivery Lead client design workshops and guide discussions toward scalable, best-practice solutions Translate business and/or technical requirements into well-architected solutions Own solution design, configuration approach, and overall delivery quality Serve as a primary point of contact for client stakeholders (business and/or IT) Anticipate risks, propose mitigation strategies, and drive resolution of complex issues Solution Ownership Configure, prototype, and validate solutions aligned to client needs Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with industry best practices Understand downstream impacts of design decisions across systems and processes Contribute to reusable assets, documentation, and internal best practices Team Leadership & Mentorship Mentor and coach junior consultants through project work and day-to-day guidance Provide structured feedback and help develop team members’ consulting and technical skills Lead smaller project teams or workstreams, ensuring effective delegation and execution Create leverage by enabling others to deliver high-quality work Project & Engagement Management (as needed) Support or own project planning, timelines, and resource coordination Partner with leadership to manage client expectations and project scope Contribute to strong project financial and delivery outcomes What we’re looking for : 5–8+ years of experience in retail, wholesale, distribution, manufacturing, consulting, or retail software delivery Experience implementing or supporting solutions such as RELEX, Oracle Retail, Blue Yonder , or similar platforms Strong understanding of retail processes (e.g., planning, allocation, forecasting, replenishment) Proven ability to lead client discussions and influence decision-making Experience owning or significantly contributing to end-to-end solution delivery Ability to operate independently while guiding others Excellent communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences What sets you apart: Experience mentoring or managing consultants on project teams Deep expertise in at least one platform, module, or functional area Ability to connect business needs with system capabilities and constraints Experience leading workshops, demos, and executive-level presentations Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity Experience managing project timelines, scope, or financials A note on role flexibility: At RetSci, Senior Consultants may grow in different directions: Technical/Solution Leadership (deep platform expertise, architecture ownership) Business/Functional Leadership (retail strategy, client advisory) People Leadership (team management and development) Regardless of path, all Senior Consultants are expected to mentor others and contribute to building a stronger, more scalable team .
