Senior Commercial Manager – Defence Programmes - Pre-Signature role Location: Can be remote with UK travel 2-3 times a month Salary: Up to £82,500 + Bonus + Additional Benefits We're supporting a leading organisation operating within the defence and national security sector as they look to appoint an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join a growing business unit delivering complex, high-value programmes. This is a strategic commercial role focused on supporting business growth activities, shaping commercial solutions, and leading pre-contract engagement across a diverse portfolio of defence opportunities. The successful candidate will play a key role in influencing commercial strategy, supporting bid activities, and ensuring robust commercial positions are developed throughout the opportunity lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Lead commercial input across complex defence opportunities and programmes. Support business development and bid teams through the full pre-contract lifecycle. Develop commercial strategies, pricing positions, assumptions, and risk mitigation approaches. Negotiate and shape contractual frameworks to support business objectives. Collaborate with senior stakeholders across commercial, technical, operational, and business development functions. Provide commercial leadership during competitive tendering and customer engagement activities. Essential Experience Significant customer facing commercial management experience within the defence sector. Strong pre-signature (pre-contract) deal experience, including bid support, opportunity shaping, and commercial negotiations. Proven ability to develop and execute commercial strategies for complex programmes. Strong understanding of government and defence procurement environments. Experience working with multi-disciplinary stakeholders in a regulated environment.
