If you’re excited about solving complex real-world problems with elegant and scalable systems, we’d love to meet you. Why this role exists We are growing quickly and need a backend engineer who can architect core systems, make smart tradeoffs, and lay strong technical foundations that support speed and flexibility as we expand. You will shape our backend architecture, own critical services, and help define how the product works under the hood. What We Offer Join a small, dynamic team: Every team member plays a critical role and has a voice. Opportunity to work on innovative, high-impact projects that reshape the insurance industry. A collaborative and supportive environment where engineering craftsmanship is valued. Professional development opportunities and career growth within the company. Full-time, fully remote position with flexible working hours. Compensation EGP450,000-900,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. What you’ll do (first 90–180 days) Design and implement core backend architecture, including multi-tenant data models, business logic workflows, and integrations. Build and maintain APIs (GraphQL/REST) that are reliable, well-documented, and easy to extend. Work closely with the product and engineering team to scope work intelligently and deliver iteratively. Develop server-side logic, ensure high performance, and handle scaling challenges as usage grows. Own deployments and reliability: instrument services, monitor performance, and improve operational visibility. Ship. Learn. Iterate. You’ll own outcomes, not just code. What makes you a great fit 5–8+ years of professional backend development experience. Deep experience with Node.js and NestJS (dependency injection, modules, middleware, architecture patterns). Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL (schemas, indexing, optimization, transactions). Experience building and maintaining scalable, secure, production-grade backend systems. Comfortable with serverless and cloud service s on AWS (e.g., Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3). Solid understanding of API design, integration, and lifecycle management. Clear communicator who can explain tradeoffs and guide decisions. You work well with ambiguity and can self-direct when required. Nice-to-haves Familiarity with Prisma or TypeORM. Experience with Redis, message queues, or event-driven patterns. Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. Exposure to multi-tenant SaaS architectures. Domain experience in insurance, fintech, or other regulated industries. Within 90 days: you’ve designed and delivered a core backend service that others rely on confidently. Within 6 months: our backend foundations are stronger, more stable, easier to extend, and ready to scale because of your work.
