This leadership role is responsible for driving complex, cross-functional programs that support business growth, operational excellence, digital transformation, and strategic initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate combines strong program management expertise with deep knowledge of the energy industry, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a proven track record of delivering large-scale initiatives on time and within budget. Position Summary The Program Director will oversee a portfolio of strategic programs and projects across multiple business functions, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and industry regulations. This individual will serve as a trusted partner to executive leadership, guiding program execution, governance, risk management, and organizational change initiatives. The role requires a highly collaborative leader capable of managing distributed teams and engaging with internal and external stakeholders across the energy value chain. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of enterprise-wide programs aligned with organizational goals. Develop and maintain program roadmaps, milestones, budgets, and performance metrics. Partner with executive leadership to define strategic priorities and translate them into actionable initiatives. Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across program portfolios. Program & Portfolio Management Manage multiple concurrent programs and projects within the energy business. Establish governance frameworks, reporting structures, and decision-making processes. Monitor program performance, dependencies, risks, and resource allocation. Ensure timely delivery of program objectives while maintaining quality and budget expectations. Stakeholder Management Build strong relationships with executive leaders, customers, regulators, vendors, and cross-functional teams. Facilitate executive steering committees and governance meetings. Communicate program status, challenges, and recommendations to senior leadership. Financial & Resource Oversight Develop and manage program budgets and forecasts. Optimize resource planning and utilization across programs. Track financial performance and ensure achievement of business value realization targets. Risk & Compliance Management Identify, assess, and mitigate program risks. Ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations, safety standards, and corporate policies. Support audit readiness and regulatory reporting requirements where applicable. Change Management Lead organizational change initiatives associated with program implementations. Promote stakeholder adoption and engagement through structured communication and training strategies. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Energy Management, or a related field. 12+ years of progressive experience in program management, project management, or operational leadership. 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale programs. Experience within the energy, utilities, renewable energy, oil & gas, power generation, grid modernization, or related sectors. Proven success managing multi-million-dollar programs and cross-functional teams. Strong understanding of program governance, risk management, budgeting, and strategic planning. Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and lead geographically dispersed teams. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree (MBA, Engineering Management, Energy Management, or related discipline). PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, Prince2, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent certifications. Experience with digital transformation, smart grid technologies, energy analytics, sustainability programs, or enterprise technology implementations. Familiarity with regulatory environments within the U.S. energy market. Experience working with private equity-backed or high-growth organizations.
