This isn't a typical job. It might be the most interesting work you've ever done. Every derelict building has a story. A family that moved away. An estate that was never settled. An owner who simply disappeared from the records. At Property Saviour, we buy abandoned and vacant properties across the UK, renovate them, and give them a new lease of life — turning forgotten buildings back into homes and spaces that communities can be proud of. To do that, we need to find the people those buildings belong to. That's where you come in. What the role involves You'll work independently to trace the rightful owners or legal heirs of abandoned, derelict, and long-vacant properties we've identified. Think of it as the real-world version of the BBC's Heir Hunters — forensic, methodical, and genuinely satisfying when you crack a difficult case. Your job is to deliver confirmed contact details for the registered owner or next of kin. Our team handles everything after that — the conversation, the offer, the purchase. You focus entirely on the trace. There is no cap on the number of cases you can take on, which means there is no cap on what you can earn. What's in it for you A fee paid for every successful trace — straightforward, no ambiguity All reasonable costs and disbursements covered — database subscriptions, search fees, registry costs, whatever the trace requires Complete flexibility — work the hours that suit you, from wherever you like A steady and growing pipeline of cases — we are buying continuously and the demand for what you do will not slow down The satisfaction of turning a neglected building back into something useful, and reuniting owners with assets they may not even know they still hold This role suits someone who has spent a career in probate research, genealogy, tracing, or legal records and wants to keep their skills sharp and their income ticking over on their own terms. If you are recently retired, working part-time, or simply looking for flexible freelance work that genuinely uses your expertise — we'd love to hear from you. What we're looking for Proven experience in probate genealogy, heir tracing, or missing persons/owner location work Access to the tools of the trade — genealogy databases, land registry systems, electoral roll records, probate records, and the instinct to know where to look when the obvious routes run dry Methodical, accurate, and discreet — the people we are trying to reach are often in sensitive circumstances Self-sufficient and comfortable working remotely without day-to-day supervision Based in the UK (cases are UK-focused, though some international tracing may arise) No two cases are the same. If you thrive on the puzzle as much as the result, this is the role for you. About Property Saviour We are a UK-based property buying company that purchases homes and buildings quickly, for cash, directly from owners — including those facing probate, repossession, or simply trying to resolve a property they've inherited and don't know what to do with. Every building we buy gets a second chance. We also pay a finder's fee to anyone who reports a property to us, which means our network of eyes on the ground is always growing. If you have the skills and want to do genuinely interesting work on your own schedule, get in touch. Tell us about your background, the tools you use, and what kind of case volume you could comfortably handle.
