Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, you will oversee end-to-end payroll operations and benefits administration to ensure compliance, accuracy, and exceptional employee support, while leading, coaching, and mentoring a Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist. You will also play a key role in optimizing payroll and HRIS workflows, supporting related system enhancements, and contributing to broader organizational initiatives, including partnering with Finance on payroll and benefits cost tracking, reporting, and related analysis. What You’ll Be Doing Payroll Administration & Compliance Lead the full-cycle payroll process for employees across multiple locations, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with Canadian payroll legislation and company policies. Review payroll transactions including new hires, terminations, promotions, compensation changes, and scheduling adjustments that have been entered by the HR and payroll team members Ensure payroll deductions, remittances, and reconciliations are completed accurately and on time. Support year-end payroll activities including T4s, T2200s, audits, and other statutory reporting requirements. Benefits Administration Ensure accuracy in the administration of employee benefits programs including enrollments, changes, terminations, and reconciliations. Investigate and resolve payroll and benefits discrepancies while providing responsive support to employee inquiries. Partner with benefits providers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth administration and issue resolution. HRIS & Payroll Systems Optimization Act as a key resource for payroll and HRIS systems, supporting system configuration, troubleshooting, integrations, and process enhancements. Maintain payroll data integrity through regular audits, reconciliations, and reporting. Utilize Dayforce, Excel, QGenda and integrated systems to streamline processes and improve reporting accuracy. Participate in HRIS upgrades, implementations, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaboration & Reporting Collaborate with People & Culture, Finance, and operational leaders to ensure accurate employee data management and payroll processing. Generate payroll and workforce reports for internal and external stakeholders using Dayforce and Excel. Identify opportunities to improve workflows, enhance efficiencies, and strengthen payroll controls. What We’re Looking For Progressive experience overseeing and executing end-to-end Canadian payroll and benefits, with strong knowledge of federal and provincial payroll legislation, taxation, and compliance requirements. Proven ability to coach, mentor, and lead a small but robust payroll team, with a hands-on leadership style that builds trust, supports team development, and ensures accuracy and confidentiality while balancing multiple priorities. Experience managing and supporting complex HRIS and payroll systems, such as Ceridian Dayforce, with demonstrated skills in configuration, integrations, troubleshooting, and data management. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP), Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation is an asset. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail. Demonstrated success improving and developing policies, programs, strategies, and projects that drive sustainable change. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a service-minded approach that builds trust across all levels of the organizations. A history of engaging in professional growth and development.
