You will serve as a key guide, supporting City community liaisons and community groups successfully navigate City processes from initial strategy to project realization. Reporting to the Strategic Planner, the Neighbourhood Parkland Project Specialist implements the Community Led Parkland Development Process within Community Services as part of the City's Project Development and Delivery Model (PDDM). This role acts as a central bridge, bringing diverse collaborators together from across the City to solve community parkland-related issues and preparing communications back to City Councillors and neighbourhoods. You will lead and guide internal and external groups through City policies, collaboratively navigating project development, coordination, and issues management. Additionally, you will research and develop program resources, deliver training, track quarterly/annual metrics, and manage tripartite agreements and maps as community league licensed areas evolve. This position is involved in complex projects and regularly participates in cross-departmental initiatives and actions project plans. What will you do? Implement the Community Led Parkland Development Process for park and facility development by determining project scale, scope, and viability Assess and approve community-led project proposals, identifying agreement requirements, funding eligibility, site constraints, and relevant policies Liaise with City staff and community groups to coordinate complex park development projects and provide expert planning advice Manage issues and correspondence related to groups that are non-compliant with community-led processes. Assist city liaison in supporting community partners with the development of strategic plans, business cases, navigating city processes and frameworks Develop, maintain, and update resource guides, tools, templates, and briefing notes to support staff and community groups Review and update tripartite agreements and maps using AEGIS mapping tools as community league areas are developed or modified Develop training materials and facilitate workshops for City staff and community members regarding the Community Led Process Prepare annual and quarterly metric reports, monitor reporting, identifying policy gaps, risks, and mitigation strategies Support cross-department initiatives based on subject matter insights and knowledge Develop and action project plans Other duties as assigned Neighbourhood Services Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Recreation, Business, Arts, Education, or a related discipline Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in community relations, facility development planning/support, project coordination, or business planning Assets: Demonstrated successful experience leading community-driven projects Sound knowledge of the Project Development and Delivery Model (PDDM), Community Led Parkland Development Program, and related policies and processes Experience utilizing AEGIS mapping software or similar geographic information systems Skills required for success: Strong project management, time management, and multi-priority management skills Superior communication (written and verbal) and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate complex, technical planning information to diverse, non expert partners Excellent conflict management, problem-solving, and consensus-building skills, with a proven ability to exercise tact and sound judgment in sensitive situations Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional, integrated teams Strong analytical skills to monitor reporting, evaluate metrics, identify efficiencies, and write clear briefing notes and reports Political acumen to make sound decisions with an understanding of budgetary and political implications, knowing when to escalate issues Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( https://bit.ly/4brRrXm ) Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation, and inclusion Conditions of Employment: Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement Candidates are required to hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) or higher.
