Position Name – Optical system developer / Architect Type of hiring – Fulltime/Subcon Location – Remote Canada Job Description: We are looking for a strong hands-on professional with experience in optical board and optical system development . Key Responsibilities & Requirements: Develop new features on the optical L0 layer Hands-on experience in bringing up optical boards such as ROADMs, amplifiers, RAMAN systems, and OTDR at card and system level Strong expertise in optical control loop architectures including VOAs, OCMs, ROADMs, and amplifier control systems Senior-level C++ development experience (5+ Years) with strong multi-threaded system design skills Experience in optical firmware development and working closely with firmware & hardware teams Ability to collaboratively define and drive firmware specifications with cross-functional teams Experience in GX software and/or test environments is a plus Knowledge of optical protection and restoration is highly desirable Exposure to modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor AI, Claude Code, AI-driven workflows) is a strong plus Strong software design experience with ability to work at architect/senior engineering level
