About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Remote Operations Center (ROC) Manager to oversee our dynamic operations across multiple renewable energy assets. This role involves leading a team of operators responsible for real-time monitoring, control, and coordination of wind, battery storage, and solar assets primarily within the US Southwest market, with future expansion plans into MISO and ERCOT regions, as well as wind assets in Canada. The ROC Manager will ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations while serving as the primary escalation point for operational issues. This position plays a vital role in the establishment of a new ROC facility scheduled to launch on January 1, 2027, with significant involvement in the initial phases to ensure operational readiness and team preparedness. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in renewable energy operations, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power systems, energy management, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in ROC renewable power plant operations, grid control room operations, or utility/ISO operations.
- At least 5 years in a managerial role within a 24/7 operational environment.
- Proven experience with SCADA platforms in wind, solar, or BESS operations.
- Familiarity with SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module for Work Order management.
- Understanding of wholesale electricity markets and interconnection requirements in CAISO, MISO, ERCOT, AESO, or HQÉI.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols including LOTO, switching procedures, and high-voltage safety practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of ROC Operators working rotating 24/7 shifts, ensuring continuous coverage and operational excellence.
- Create and maintain shift schedules, conduct performance reviews, and support operator training and development.
- Establish and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), escalation protocols, and shift handover standards.
- Oversee real-time monitoring of assets via SCADA platforms, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with market rules and grid codes.
- Manage SCADA alarm monitoring, triage, and resolution, including escalation and documentation of alarm events.
- Coordinate with field operations teams for safe system states, lockout/tagout procedures, and field activities.
- Lead outage coordination with scheduling and market operators, ensuring timely notifications and compliance with reporting regulations.
- Administer SAP Work Orders, monitor backlogs, and ensure accurate and timely completion of maintenance tasks.
- Prepare operational reports, track KPIs, and support investigations to improve operational efficiency and asset reliability.
- Contribute to the stand-up of the new ROC facility, including infrastructure design, team onboarding, and system integration.
- Participate in commissioning activities, testing, and operational readiness reviews to ensure a smooth transition to live operations.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of procedures, incidents, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
