Role Summary As part of the primary care transformational strategy, the NNPBC Nurse Practitioner Provincial Initiatives Program delivers a Provincial and Regional Leadership Program, Practice Support Program and reimbursement programs for NPs. The Provincial and Regional Leadership Program is a collaborative initiative between Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC (NNPBC) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) that includes NP leaders for each of the five health regions across the province to support contracted NPs working within Primary Care Network (PCN) settings. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner Regional Lead – Island Region to support the advancement of Ministry of Health-funded initiatives delivered through NNPBC. In this role, the contractor will provide regional leadership, mentorship, and practice support to Nurse Practitioners working within Primary Care Networks (PCNs), contributing to the successful integration and ongoing development of NP roles across the region. Engagement Type: Independent Contractor Contract Scope: Approximately 672 hours per year (estimated 0.4 FTE equivalent workload; hours not guaranteed) Rate: $116.22/hour Location: Remote, with required regional travel. Contractor must reside in the Island region of British Columbia Reporting Relationship: This role works in close collaboration with the Director, Provincial and Regional Leadership Program, with accountability for agreed deliverables and timelines. This is a contract for services. The successful candidate will operate as an independent contractor and is responsible for determining how work is carried out, within agreed deliverables and timelines. Please note: As this is an independent contractor role, the successful candidate will not be eligible for employee benefits and will be responsible for managing their own business obligations (e.g., taxes, insurance, equipment unless otherwise specified). Applications accepted until: Thursday July 2 at 4pm PST Essential Duties & Responsibilities The contractor will be expected to deliver on the following outcomes and areas of work: Provide leadership, mentorship and expert advice to NPs regarding NP clinical practice, with a QI lens. Provide a professional lens in identifying and addressing NP professional and practice support needs. Contribute to the development of high-quality practice environments by liaising, influencing, and consulting with various partners to promote and advance NP professional practice with the aim of successful integration of NPs into a team-based primary health care system within Primary Care Networks. Provide practice support, coaching and mentorship, supporting the integration of NPs within team-based PCNs is in alignment with the Provincial primary health care strategy. Uphold principles of evidenced-based clinical practice. Leverage fundamentals of professional coaching. Use ongoing evaluation and reflection to respond to NP practice needs. Develop long-term relationships with key partners/stakeholders including, though not limited to the NP Leadership Committee, MOH PCD/PIO Regional Managers, Health Authorities, Docs of BC/FPSC, local Divisions of Family Practice, PCNs, local primary care providers (FPs/NPs), allied health professionals within PCNs, BCCNM, Indigenous communities, community partners, public, and others involved in the primary health care strategy. Represent NNPBC and individual Nurse Practitioners on behalf of NNPBC with key partners and interest holders within Primary Care Networks, maintaining both a regional and provincial lens. Required Qualifications & Skills Education & Registration Master’s degree in nursing - Nurse Practitioner Current registration in good standing with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a Nurse Practitioner Active membership with NNPBC (or willingness to obtain prior to contract start) Experience & Capability Demonstrated experience supporting or advancing Nurse Practitioner practice in primary care or team-based care environments Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage diverse partners across health systems Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver on commitments in a remote environment Experience providing mentorship, coaching, or practice support to clinicians Commitment to cultural safety, anti-racism, and equity-informed practice Preferred Qualifications & Skills Leadership & Systems Experience Experience working with Primary Care Networks (PCNs) Experience in quality improvement, change leadership, or system transformation initiatives Familiarity with provincial primary care strategy and health system partners in BC Experience working with Indigenous communities and/or advancing Indigenous-specific cultural safety Professional Strengths Conflict resolution and facilitation skills Experience influencing without formal authority Strong emotional intelligence and reflective practice Comfort navigating complex, evolving environments Technology & Working Conditions Technologically competent in tools required for remote and knowledge work. Fully remote; successful candidate must reside in the Island region of British Columbia and be able to travel as required. Ability to work independently and effectively in a high-performing remote work environment. Capacity to meet the physical requirements of the role (primarily cognitive, desk-based work) The contractor is expected to provide and maintain their own equipment and workspace required to deliver services, with access to NNPBC systems and tools provided as needed.
