Position Summary: Our Client is seeking an experienced Azure & VMware system administrator to support and evolve our hybrid infrastructure environment spanning on-premises data centers and Microsoft Azure cloud services. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of critical systems while enabling scalable cloud adoption and disaster recovery strategies. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in VMware virtualization and Azure cloud services, along with strong operational discipline in managing enterprise systems and supporting mission-critical applications. Key Responsibilities: Hybrid Infrastructure Management Administer and support VMware environments including ESXi hosts, vCenter, clusters, and virtual machines Deploy, configure, and manage Azure resources including VMs, storage accounts, virtual networks, and backup services Maintain hybrid connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and Azure (VPN, ExpressRoute) Cloud & Virtualization Operations Provision and manage virtual machines across VMware and Azure platforms Perform system patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; proactively address issues Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Design, implement, and support disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Azure Site Recovery, VMware replication) Participate in DR testing and ensure compliance with recovery objectives (RTO/RPO) Support business continuity planning for critical systems Security & Identity Management Implement and maintain role-based access control (RBAC) and identity solutions using Azure AD Ensure systems meet organizational security standards and regulatory requirements Support vulnerability remediation and security audits Automation & Optimization Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or infrastructure-as-code tools Optimize resource utilization and manage cloud cost controls Improve operational efficiency through standardization and automation Application & Platform Support Support enterprise applications hosted on VMware and Azure environments Collaborate with application, network, and security teams to ensure system stability Provide support for performance troubleshooting and incident resolution Requirements Qualifications: 3–5+ years of experience managing VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) 2–3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure services Experience with Windows Server administration and enterprise systems support Strong understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs) Position Details: An Azure and VMware Administrator is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing hybrid infrastructure environments that span on-premises data centers and cloud platforms. This role ensures high availability, security, and performance of enterprise systems while enabling scalable and resilient cloud adoption strategies. On the VMware side, the administrator manages virtualization infrastructure including vSphere environments, ESXi hosts, vCenter, storage, and networking. They oversee VM provisioning, performance tuning, patching, capacity planning, and disaster recovery solutions such as replication and failover. On the Azure side, the administrator deploys and supports cloud services including virtual machines, storage, networking, identity (Azure AD), and backup/recovery solutions. They are responsible for resource governance, cost management, security compliance, and implementing cloud-native or hybrid architectures. Across both platforms, the role focuses on: Maintaining system reliability and uptime Implementing disaster recovery and business continuity strategies Managing identity, access, and security controls Supporting application hosting (e.g., Epic, enterprise systems) Driving automation and infrastructure-as-code practices Monitoring performance and optimizing cost and resource utilization This role often acts as a bridge between traditional infrastructure and modern cloud services, helping organizations transition to hybrid or fully cloud-based environments while aligning with business and regulatory requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience with hybrid cloud environments and migrations Knowledge of Azure Site Recovery and backup solutions Familiarity with automation tools (PowerShell, ARM templates, Terraform) Experience supporting healthcare or other regulated environments Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104) and/or VMware certifications (VCP) Key Competencies Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and collaboration skills Focus on reliability, security, and continuous improvement Work Environment Hybrid infrastructure supporting both on-premises data centers and cloud platforms Participation in on-call rotation for critical system support
