Inpatient Facility Coding Auditor Hot Job Apply Overview Salary Range $39.00 - $43.00 Position Type Full Time Apply Description We are currently hiring experienced Inpatient Medical Coding Auditors to join our team. In this role, you will perform comprehensive audits of acute inpatient medical records to ensure accurate coding, documentation compliance, and appropriate DRG assignment. The auditor will identify systemic risks, provide high-level feedback and ensure adherence to ICD-10-CM/PCS Official Guidelines, AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, AHA Coding Clinic guidelines and regulatory standards.              What you’ll do: Perform retrospective and prospective coding audits on acute inpatient charts (MS-DRG/APR-DRG) to evaluate accuracy and compliance. Review medical records for complete documentation, ensuring the coded diagnoses and procedures are fully supported. Validate ICD-10-CM/PCS code selection, Present on Admission (POA) indicators, and discharge disposition. Deliver high-level educational insights and systemic feedback Identify facility-wide coding error trends, revenue leakage, and documentation bottlenecks to drive institutional process improvements. Stay updated on CMS regulations, HIPAA, and industry-wide coding guidelines. What you’ll need: Active certification from AHIMA (CCS, RHIA, or RHIT) or AAPC (CIC, CPC, or CPMA) required. A minimum of 3-5 years of direct inpatient facility coding auditing experience. Expertise in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding principles, UHDDS, and DRG payment methodologies. Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with Level 1 Trauma or academic medical center records.
