About the Role As Head of Business Development, you will take ownership of business growth across the African iGaming and Sports Betting market. The role will involve identifying high-value prospects, building relationships with operators and industry stakeholders, developing strategic partnerships, managing the commercial pipeline, and closing new business opportunities. You will engage with operators, platforms, suppliers, aggregators, affiliates, payment providers, content providers, technology partners, and other key players within the betting and gaming ecosystem. Success in this role will depend on your ability to understand market dynamics, position solutions effectively, negotiate with confidence, and build relationships that deliver measurable commercial results. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute business development strategies across the African iGaming and Sports Betting market. Identify new commercial opportunities across regulated, emerging, and high-growth African territories. Build and maintain senior-level relationships with operators, suppliers, platforms, affiliates, payment providers, aggregators, and strategic partners. Manage the full business development cycle, including market mapping, prospecting, outreach, meetings, proposals, negotiation, and deal closure. Create and maintain a structured pipeline of opportunities with clear visibility on deal stage, commercial value, probability, and expected timelines. Represent the business in senior commercial meetings, industry events, conferences, networking forums, and partner discussions. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, regulatory developments, operator needs, product demand, and regional growth opportunities. Provide leadership with market insight, commercial recommendations, competitor intelligence, and feedback from prospective partners. Work closely with internal teams to ensure commercial opportunities are properly understood, scoped, supported, and delivered. Support go-to-market planning for different African territories, taking local market conditions, commercial models, and operator requirements into account. Contribute to pricing discussions, partnership structures, sales positioning, and commercial proposals. Drive long-term revenue growth through credible relationship building, disciplined pipeline management, and effective deal execution. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate will bring proven business development, sales, partnerships, or commercial growth experience from within the iGaming and / or Sports Betting industry. A strong understanding of the African betting landscape is essential. This includes awareness of market differences, operator behaviour, regulatory complexity, commercial models, competitive pressure, and regional growth potential. An existing network across operators, suppliers, platforms, aggregators, affiliates, payment providers, gaming technology providers, or related industry stakeholders will be a major advantage. This role requires someone who is confident at senior level, comfortable managing complex commercial conversations, and capable of influencing decision-makers. Strong pipeline discipline, negotiation ability, commercial awareness, and a results-driven mindset are all critical. Because this is a remote role, the successful candidate must be highly self-motivated, structured, proactive, and able to operate without constant supervision. The Ideal Candidate This person knows the iGaming and Sports Betting industry from the inside. They understand the language, the pace, the commercial models, the operators, the suppliers, and the realities of doing business across African markets. They are not waiting for warm leads or step-by-step instructions. They know how to map a market, identify the right people, create meaningful conversations, and move opportunities forward. Relationships matter in this role, but commercial outcomes matter more. The ideal candidate will know how to build trust, create value, and close deals without overcomplicating the process. They will be credible, ambitious, commercially mature, and resilient enough to navigate long sales cycles, competitive pressure, and complex stakeholder environments. Willingness to travel across Africa and internationally when required. Must be based in South Africa.
