Our global CPG client is seeking a freelance Graphic Designer with strong packaging and print expertise for a 4-month assignment, with potential to convert to full-time. Based in Houston's Energy Corridor (hybrid schedule), this role supports Brand, MARCOM, Sales, R&D, and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced creative environment.

- Schedule: Onsite Tuesday-Thursday; Work from Home Monday & Friday

The position focuses primarily on packaging (70%), with additional work across print/digital (20%) and other assets such as trade show materials (10%). The ideal candidate brings concept-driven design thinking and can translate consumer, retail, and brand insights into impactful creative that drives engagement, conversion, and brand differentiation.
Deliverables include retail and marketing assets such as packaging, POP, POSM, displays, trade show materials, social, and web assets.
Responsibilities:
- Develop concept-driven packaging and print designs aligned with brand standards, business goals, and retail requirements.
- Apply consumer insights, market trends, and competitive awareness to create impactful visual storytelling that drives engagement and business outcomes.
- Design assets across packaging, print, and digital channels, ensuring consistency across the consumer journey.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and external vendors to deliver aligned creative solutions.
- Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining high-quality output.
- Prepare production-ready files, ensuring accuracy in color, layout, regulatory, and print specifications.
- Present design concepts clearly, incorporate feedback, and refine creative output.
- Take ownership of projects by identifying issues, solving problems, and ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
Requirements:
- 5-8+ years of experience in packaging, print, and digital design; previous CPG experience is preferred.
- Strong portfolio showcasing layout skills and adherence to brand guidelines, including examples of packaging that improves consumer engagement, retail presence, or brand differentiation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Knowledge of print production processes, including traditional, specialty, and digital methods.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with a range of design tools.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
- Basic understanding of current AI tools.
