Full Stack Engineer — AI Workflow Platform for Financial Compliance New York, NY or San Francisco, CA · Hybrid or Remote · Full-time $200K–$260K base + competitive equity The company The company is building software that captures and scales compliance judgment for regulated industries, starting with financial services. Its first product is an AI-powered third-party risk management platform for financial institutions. The goal is to turn the judgment that usually lives in a few senior operators into a repeatable system that can be deployed across customers with traceability and control. The team is small — 8 people total , including 3 software engineers — and combines former regulators, compliance and legal leaders from fintech, and strong technologists. The business recently closed a $25M Series A , has $40M in total contract value , and has already gone from 0 to 5 live deployments in 45 days , with 15 live deployments expected in the next month . The role This is a full-stack role for someone who wants to own both product delivery and the systems behind it. You will work across the UI, backend, and AI orchestration layer, and you will help decide what gets built, how it should work, and where the technical bar needs to be raised. This is not a ticket-taking role. The work is customer-facing, high-context, and close to the real operating problems that determine whether a deployment succeeds. You will work directly with customers, compliance professionals, and engineering leadership. That means short feedback loops, real accountability, and a lot of leverage if you can turn messy requirements into clean software. The technical problem Compliance workflows are messy in ways most software products never have to handle. Inputs are incomplete. Review paths vary by customer. Volume spikes in bursts. Every workflow needs to preserve state, produce an answer users can trust, and leave enough traceability to explain what happened later. The hardest part is not building a demoable agent. It is building a system that can orchestrate AI across document review, screening, and case management without creating opaque behavior, brittle edge cases, or operational drag. What you'll own Full-stack feature delivery: ship customer-facing workflows across React, TypeScript, Python, Postgres, and AWS. AI workflow orchestration: extend the agent-first architecture that coordinates document review, screening, and case management. Workflow state and data shape: keep the underlying models coherent so multiple product surfaces can use the same system without fragmentation. Reliability and performance: own a system that sees bursty load and sharp volume spikes, and make it predictable under pressure. Customer workflow translation: work with customers and compliance professionals to turn real operating procedures into product behavior. Product judgment: help shape what to build, what to defer, and how to sequence work so the team compounds instead of fragmenting. Codebase quality: raise implementation quality, development velocity, and engineering standards as the team scales. Who this is for You are likely a strong fit if you have: 2+ years of production full-stack engineering experience. Built customer-facing features end to end, not just pieces of a larger system. Strong application-layer Python and React/TypeScript experience. Comfort moving through ambiguity while still making disciplined technical decisions. Interest in AI products where orchestration, workflow state, and human review matter more than demo quality. Experience working with users or customers and translating operational workflows into software. Good judgment around data modeling, reliability, and product tradeoffs. High standards for code quality and a bias toward shipping without creating a maintenance burden. The stated experience bar is 2+ years, but the real bar is whether you can own a full surface area, reason about tradeoffs, and ship with a level of judgment that does not create cleanup for the next person. Tech stack Frontend: React, TypeScript Backend: Python Data: Postgres Infrastructure: AWS Product area: agent-first workflow orchestration for compliance operations Experience with AI-assisted workflow products, regulated systems, or early-stage startup environments is useful, but the main requirement is strong product engineering judgment. Why now The company has reached the point where architecture decisions are product decisions. It already has live customers, meaningful contract value, and a clear wedge in a difficult domain. The next phase is not more isolated features; it is building a system that can support more institutions without turning each new deployment into custom engineering work. That creates a rare combination of scope: customer-facing product work, AI orchestration, and the reliability needed to make both usable in production. This role is not for you if You want narrowly scoped tickets and minimal ambiguity. You prefer working in only one layer of the stack. You are uncomfortable talking directly with customers or domain experts. You do not want ownership of reliability, performance, or production issues. You want a role where the product direction is already fully set. Compensation and logistics Base salary: $200K–$260K Equity: competitive Location: New York or San Francisco preferred; hybrid or remote considered Remote policy: remote candidates are considered; candidates in Belgrade are also accepted Visa sponsorship: available Employment: full-time Application notes To apply, be ready to share: An example of customer-facing work you built, ideally with a link or screenshot. A time you became unusually obsessed with a problem and went deeper than expected. This can be a work problem or a personal project. About Aurora Aurora helps exceptional engineers find the right role at some of the most ambitious startups worldwide.
