Forest Supply Chain Specialist Do you have a background in forestry or environmental management and a passion for sustainability standards? Are you looking to grow your auditing career within a global organisation that works to protect the world’s forests and supply chains? If so, you could be exactly who we’re looking for. What you can expect: Preferred by Nature is looking for a Supply Chain Specialist to join our forestry certification team in China. You will conduct FSC and PEFC certification audits for clients across Greater China, Japan, and Korea as a qualified and approved auditor, contributing to billable work from day one. Working within a close-knit regional team, you will manage your own portfolio of clients and play an important role in maintaining the quality, efficiency, and growth of our certification services across East Asia. Working with us is never routine, so in your first year you can expect the following areas to be central to your work. Conduct FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody and Forest Management certification audits for clients across China, Japan, and Korea as a qualified and approved auditor. Manage a portfolio of client engagements, including audit scheduling, budgeting, report writing, and client communication. Ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness across all certification tasks and administrative processes. Provide client support on certification standards, FSC and PEFC requirements, and logo and trademark use. Support cross-regional audit engagements in East Asia as part of the broader PbN forestry team. Contribute to certification database management and operational administration in line with PbN protocols. Your first year with us: Within three months, you will: Complete onboarding and develop a thorough understanding of PbN’s certification services, internal systems, and the East Asia client portfolio. Begin independently conducting FSC and PEFC CoC audits and contributing to billable engagements within your existing qualification scope. Build effective working relationships with the China team and key client contacts. Within six months, you will: Manage your own client portfolio independently, covering the full audit cycle from planning and on-site visits through to report finalisation and client follow-up. Consistently meet audit quality standards and submission timeframes with minimal supervision. Take on task management responsibilities for assigned clients, covering scheduling, reporting, and client correspondence. Within twelve months, you will: Independently manage a consistent portfolio of FSC and PEFC CoC clients with strong quality and client satisfaction. Contribute actively to cross-regional audit support and internal team development. Expand your technical expertise across additional standards or audit categories relevant to the East Asia portfolio. Important that you: Hold a university degree in forestry, biology, geography, environmental management, or a related field, or a vocational qualification from the timber processing or trading industry. Are already registered as a CFCC auditor under CCAA and are approved to conduct independent audits. Bring approximately 2 to 3 years of experience conducting FSC and/or PEFC CoC audits, with a track record of independent delivery. Are proficient in Chinese and English, both written and spoken. Are comfortable travelling nationally and internationally as a regular part of your work. Are able to work independently, manage your own workload, and maintain a high standard of quality and professional integrity. Are aligned with Preferred by Nature’s mission and motivated by the opportunity to contribute to it. Would also be great, but not necessary, if you: Have experience conducting FSC Forest Management audits in addition to CoC. Have knowledge of PEFC, SBP, or other supply chain and sustainability certification schemes. Have knowledge of Japanese or Korean, in addition to Chinese and English.
