Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Epic Grand Central + Cadence Principal Trainer to lead the design, development, delivery, and maintenance of training programs supporting Epic Patient Access workflows. This role is responsible for developing and managing comprehensive training curricula for Grand Central and Cadence applications, ensuring end users are equipped to successfully adopt and utilize Epic functionality across scheduling, registration, admissions, transfers, discharges, bed management, and patient access operations. The Principal Trainer serves as the primary training expert for assigned Epic applications and collaborates closely with operational leaders, application analysts, project managers, and organizational stakeholders to support implementation, optimization, upgrades, and ongoing education initiatives. The successful candidate will possess strong instructional design expertise, Epic application knowledge, and a passion for adult learning and user adoption. Training programs are critical to successful Epic utilization and competency across the organization. Essential Responsibilities Serve as the lead trainer and educational resource for Epic Grand Central and Cadence applications. Design, develop, maintain, and update role-based training curricula, lesson plans, eLearning content, quick reference guides, simulations, and training materials. Build and maintain Epic training environments to ensure alignment with production and testing environments. Deliver instructor-led, virtual, and one-on-one training sessions for end users, super users, providers, and operational leaders. Collaborate with application analysts and operational stakeholders to understand workflow design and translate system functionality into effective training programs. Develop training plans and education strategies for Epic implementations, upgrades, optimizations, and new functionality deployments. Facilitate train-the-trainer programs and assess trainer readiness and competency. Create and administer competency assessments, proficiency testing, and credentialing activities. Participate in workflow validation, integrated testing, dress rehearsals, and go-live readiness activities. Support organizational change management and adoption efforts by identifying educational needs and providing targeted training solutions. Monitor training effectiveness and continuously improve curriculum based on user feedback, operational metrics, and system enhancements. Provide post-training support, coaching, and remediation to users requiring additional assistance. Partner with project leadership to estimate training requirements, resource needs, and deployment schedules. Maintain training documentation, policies, procedures, and educational standards. Ensure all training materials reflect current Epic workflows, organizational standards, and regulatory requirements. Participate in go-live support activities and provide at-the-elbow support as needed. Mentor and support additional trainers and instructional staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies. Strong understanding of healthcare scheduling, registration, admissions, discharge, transfer, and bed management workflows. Ability to create engaging classroom, virtual, and self-paced learning experiences. Expertise in curriculum development, training documentation, and competency validation. Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly educational content. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, learning management systems, and eLearning development tools. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to customer service excellence and end-user success. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Education, Information Systems, Business, Clinical Discipline, or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Experience Minimum 3 years of Epic training, healthcare operations, clinical informatics, or healthcare IT experience. Experience developing and delivering training programs for large-scale healthcare technology implementations. Experience supporting patient access, scheduling, registration, admissions, or hospital operations workflows preferred. Previous Principal Trainer experience strongly preferred. Epic Certifications Required: Epic Cadence Curriculum Certification Epic Grand Central Curriculum Certification TED 105 (Training Wheels Behind the Scenes) Preferred: TED 300 (Training Environment Build) Epic Prelude Certification Additional Epic Patient Access certifications Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting Epic implementations, upgrades, or large-scale optimization initiatives. Experience building and maintaining Epic training environments. Knowledge of Epic Patient Access workflows including Cadence, Prelude, and Grand Central. Healthcare system experience within integrated delivery networks, hospitals, or multi-site health systems. Experience providing go-live support and post-implementation optimization training.
