The role is not only execution-focused but also requires strong architectural thinking and the ability to define and push forward a long-term DevOps and SRE roadmap. Client Overview The client is a large US-based consumer retail and e-commerce enterprise headquartered in California. The company operates a vast omnichannel ecosystem, including hundreds of physical retail locations and a strong global online presence across multiple premium home and lifestyle brands. It is one of the largest e-commerce and specialty retail organizations in the United States, operating multiple digital storefronts and serving customers in over 60 countries. Key Responsibilities Define and drive DevOps and SRE roadmap improvements for the account Lead architecture discussions and provide technical direction (T4-level ownership) Build and improve automation frameworks and infrastructure provisioning pipelines Support and optimize cloud-native infrastructure (primarily GCP) Collaborate with distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment reliability, and operational efficiency Drive observability, monitoring, and alerting improvements Ensure security, compliance, and cost optimization best practices Produce and maintain technical documentation (ADRs, architecture decisions) Act as a technical leader and mentor within the team Required Skills & Experience Strong DevOps expertise (senior/tech lead level) Proven experience in architecture-level decision making (T4 profile) Excellent hands-on skills in: Bash scripting (mandatory) Python (mandatory) Flask / SQLAlchemy Strong experience with: Terraform / Terraform Enterprise (TFE) Docker & Kubernetes Jenkins (including Groovy shared pipeline libraries) Helm Strong Linux and networking knowledge Experience with GCP (Google Cloud Platform) GCP IAM (service accounts, roles, permissions) CI/CD best practices and pipeline troubleshooting Observability tools: Grafana, Loki (and similar monitoring stacks) SQL knowledge (Oracle DB SQL preferred) Understanding of cloud networking and security principles Experience with FinOps / cloud cost optimization Collaboration tools: Jira, Confluence, Slack Strong SRE mindset and production support experience Nice to Have Proactive communication style Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives Team Structure Team size: 9–12 engineers Distributed team with international collaboration Team expected to grow alongside platform expansion What Makes This Role Attractive Work on a large-scale, high-traffic e-commerce platform Strong engineering culture with modern DevOps/SRE practices Exposure to complex cloud infrastructure and enterprise-scale systems Direct collaboration with US-based stakeholders High-impact role with visibility across multiple engineering streams
