Work Directly With a Growing Data & Automation Company Matz Analytics serves as a Fractional Data Team for small to mid-size marketing agencies. Most growing agencies have the same problem: they produce results for clients, but their data, reporting, dashboards, automations, and internal systems are messy, manual, or unreliable. That is where we come in. We help agencies turn scattered marketing and business data into clean reporting systems, dashboards, automations, and AI-powered workflows that save time, reduce mistakes, and help them make better decisions. Our work includes analytics and reporting, dashboard building, data cleanup and QA, spreadsheet systems, marketing and CRM data integrations, workflow automations, AI-assisted operations, and business performance reporting. We are a small company today, but we are growing quickly. Our goal is to double our client count by the end of 2026, and we are looking for the right person to grow with us. This is not a corporate analyst role where you sit in one narrow lane. This is a high-growth role for someone who wants to become extremely valuable in the world of data, automation, AI, and business systems. Why This Role Is a Real Opportunity If you want a comfortable role where every task is already defined and someone tells you exactly what to do each day, this is probably not the right fit. But if you want to build real skills, solve real business problems, work directly with a founder, and grow inside a company where your work will be noticed, this may be exactly what you are looking for. You will work directly with our founder and team to help build the systems, dashboards, automations, and reporting workflows our clients rely on. That means exposure to real client problems, real business data, real marketing performance questions, real automation challenges, real AI use cases, and real operational systems. You will be asked to solve problems you have not solved before, to figure things out, and to improve messy systems. You will also do repetitive work at times, especially while we are building better processes and expanding the team. If you perform well, this role can grow into opportunities to lead future analysts, own client reporting systems, work directly with clients, build advanced automations, help design internal processes, create AI-powered workflows, and become a key operator inside a growing analytics company. We believe opportunity comes after a person proves they are willing to do the work. We will support you, train you, and help you grow, but we will not micromanage every step. You need to be self-directed, communicative, detail-oriented, and willing to improve. Our Company Values At Matz Analytics, our values are not corporate slogans. They influence how we work every day. Clients Come First Clients trust us with data that affects how they make decisions and prove results, so client satisfaction is our top priority. We under-promise and over-deliver, and we do not hide behind narrow scopes when a client needs a reasonable hand. We do not say yes to everything, but we care about doing good work and being useful. Integrity Matters Data must be handled honestly. A report should tell the truth, and a dashboard should not make performance look better than it is. We work with sensitive data that influences real decisions, so accuracy matters. If something is broken or unreliable, we say so, clearly and respectfully, even when a client, coworker, or founder is wrong. We Are Solution-Oriented Much of what we do has no perfect roadmap. Every client has different tools, data quality, and reporting needs, and our job is to solve the problem anyway. You do not need to know everything already, but you do need to research, test, document, and keep going until the problem is solved. Your Mission Your mission is to help us turn messy business and marketing data into clean, reliable systems that save time, reduce manual work, and make reporting easier. This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, systems-minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable figuring out how data should move from one place to another. What You Will Be Responsible For You will help build, maintain, and improve the data and automation systems our clients depend on. Your responsibilities will include: Building, maintaining, and improving Google Sheets and Excel-based systems used for reporting, tracking, analysis, and operations Connecting data across spreadsheets, forms, CRMs, databases, marketing platforms, automation tools, and dashboards Using SQL and data warehouse tools to pull, clean, join, organize, and summarize data Building clear, visually polished dashboards and reports that make data easy to understand Creating and troubleshooting automations using tools like Zapier, Make, n8n, AI agents, or similar Reducing manual reporting work by identifying repeatable processes that can be automated Cleaning, validating, and QA'ing data to make sure reports, dashboards, and workflows are accurate Using AI tools to speed up analysis, documentation, formula writing, SQL drafting, workflow design, and troubleshooting Working with APIs, webhooks, or similar Translating business questions into spreadsheets, reports, dashboards, queries, or automated workflows Documenting key processes Identifying broken, inefficient, or overly manual data processes and suggesting improvements You will build better systems, not just complete tasks. Required Qualifications We care more about practical ability, problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail than formal credentials. You should have: Strong proficiency in Google Sheets and/or Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data cleaning, formatting, and structured workflows Strong analytical ability and experience using data to answer questions, identify patterns, find issues, or support decisions Basic to intermediate SQL knowledge Some experience with databases or data warehouse tools such as BigQuery or similar Experience building dashboards or visual reports in tools like Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, Google Sheets, or Excel, and the ability to make them easy for non-technical people to understand Familiarity with automation tools like Zapier, Make, n8n, AI agents, or similar Ability to use AI tools effectively to improve speed, quality, and problem-solving Clear written communication, including the ability to explain what you built, how it works, and limitations The ability to troubleshoot, research, test, and propose improvements without needing every step spelled out No specific degree is required. Relevant work experience, freelance projects, personal projects, certifications, or strong examples of past work are all acceptable. Preferred Qualifications These are helpful, but not required: experience with BigQuery, Looker Studio, APIs or webhooks; experience with marketing, lead, ad, CRM, or business performance data; experience working with marketing agencies; experience documenting technical workflows; experience creating automations with Zapier, Make, or n8n; experience using AI tools for data analysis or workflow design; and experience working remotely with a U.S.-based team. Who Will Thrive In This Role You are likely a strong fit if you enjoy solving messy problems, are comfortable learning new tools, like working with spreadsheets and systems, notice details others miss, communicate clearly in writing, are willing to do repetitive work when it serves a larger outcome, take ownership instead of waiting to be told every step, can be honest when something is unclear or broken, and want to grow with a small company where your work matters. You are probably not a fit if you need every task explained step-by-step, avoid difficult or unfamiliar problems, dislike documenting your work, are careless with details, struggle to communicate progress or blockers, prefer a narrow role with little change, do not want to use AI or new technical tools, or are uncomfortable working independently in a remote environment. Compensation & Work Arrangement Location: South Africa Work Hours: U.S. Central Time This is a full-time independent contractor role paid in USD. Compensation range: $20,000–$30,000 USD per year Approximate ZAR equivalent: ZAR 325,000–ZAR 490,000 per year Compensation depends on experience, technical ability, communication skill, and overall fit. This role does not include traditional employee benefits. However, we offer a flexible work arrangement with unlimited flexible time off, as long as responsibilities are handled, deadlines are met, and communication remains clear. The ideal candidate is reliable, responsive, and able to manage their workload independently in a remote environment.
