Coord,Lecture Demonstration Requisition ID req36534 Working Title Coord,Lecture Demonstration - Biology Position Grade 10 Position Summary The Department of Biology invites applications for a Coordinator of Lecture Demonstration in Microbiology. This position supports laboratory instruction for BIOL 2305 (Microbiology for Health Science Majors) and BIOL 352L (Microbiology for Biology Majors), which serve up to 674 students annually across multiple sections. Under general supervision, the Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the microbiology teaching lab preparation area. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining laboratory materials (including biological reagents, chemical solutions, and live bacterial cultures), coordinating lab setup and teardown, and supporting the development and implementation of laboratory exercises and demonstrations in collaboration with course instructors. The Coordinator maintains laboratory equipment, manages inventory and records, and ensures compliance with all safety, environmental, and biohazard regulations, including Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) standards. This role also supports instructional activities and demonstrations as needed. Additional duties may be assigned in support of the Department of Biology’s mission. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, or biology with microbiology training Experience working in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory environment Experience maintaining microbiological cultures and preparing growth media and reagents Knowledge of microbiological techniques, assays, and laboratory procedures Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance, including microscopes and related instructional tools Ability to coordinate and support multiple laboratory sections in an undergraduate teaching environment with large enrollments Interest and experience in developing, implementing, and refining laboratory exercises and instructional demonstrations Experience managing laboratory inventory, databases, and computerized record-keeping systems Experience supporting or maintaining instructional websites or digital course materials Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations, hazardous materials handling, and compliance standards Ability to analyze operational needs, organize workflows, and manage multiple priorities in a teaching lab setting Additional Requirements Campus Main - Albuquerque, NM Department AS Biology General Administrative (048F) Employment Type Staff Staff Type Regular - Full-Time Term End Date Status Non-Exempt Pay Hourly: $19.76-$23.31 Depending on Experience Benefits Eligible This is a benefits eligible position.
