With €5,000 borrowed from his parents, he recruited 50 drivers and built the first version of the app. His brother Martin Villig and co-founder Oliver Leisalu later joined him to grow Bolt into the global platform it is today. 2013 Bolt was founded in Estonia by Markus Villig. His brother Martin Villig and Oliver Leisalu joined soon after. 2018 Raised investment from Daimler, reaching a valuation of over €1B.
