Committee Chair – Volunteer Role Overview
The
Committee Chair
is a leadership role within South Project, responsible for guiding a volunteer committee to plan, organize, and execute key community events, including our
Annual Community Baby Shower
and other programs.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, people-focused, and passionate about creating meaningful experiences for young mothers and families in our community.
Key Responsibilities
Committee Leadership & Coordination
Lead a volunteer committee and assign responsibilities
Guide planning discussions and ensure deadlines are met
Serve as the main liaison between the committee and South Project staff
Event Planning & Execution
Collaborate with staff to coordinate logistics, timelines, and event goals
Support fundraising and in-kind donation efforts as needed
Ensure smooth execution on event day, including setup, volunteer coordination, and cleanup
Volunteer & Stakeholder Communication
Maintain regular communication with committee members
Help recruit and engage volunteers to support committee initiatives
Assist with recognition of volunteers, donors, and community partners
Record-Keeping & Reporting
Maintain committee records, progress updates, and post-event feedback
Track donations, volunteer participation, and event metrics
Time Commitment
2–4 hours per month, with additional involvement leading up to major events
Flexible schedule, with increased activity in the month(s) before each event
