Business Development Manager

Role Description The Business Development Manager is a full-time, remote role based in Mount Vernon, OH (occasional travel to the home office). This role is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and securing new business opportunities in automotive and related industries, as well as expanding relationships with existing customers. Day-to-day activities include prospecting and lead generation, conducting market and competitive analyses, and preparing tailored proposals and quotations. The Business Development Manager will collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and finance to align customer requirements with AMG’s manufacturing capabilities and ensure accurate costing and delivery commitments. The role also includes managing a sales pipeline, maintaining a disciplined CRM process, preparing sales forecasts and reports, and representing AMG at customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to support strategic pricing, contract negotiations, and long-term account planning.

Qualifications

• Business development and sales skills, including prospecting, lead qualification, pipeline management, and closing new business.
• Account management skills to build, maintain, and expand long-term relationships with OEM, Tier 2, and Tier 3 customers.
• Market research and analytical skills to assess opportunities, understand customer requirements, and evaluate competitors.
• Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills for interacting with internal stakeholders and external partners at all levels.
• Familiarity with manufacturing or metals fabrication environments; experience in automotive, appliance, compressor, or outdoor power equipment industries is highly beneficial.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, and to collaborate with engineering and operations on feasibility and cost estimates.
• Proficiency with CRM tools, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and data-driven reporting for sales forecasting and performance tracking.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a manufacturing setting, manage multiple priorities, and travel as needed to customer locations and industry events.
