Summary
Client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst – HR Systems & Employee Lifecycle to support project and enhancement requests across multiple internal and third-party applications within the HR technology landscape. This role is focused on partnering with stakeholders to define business problems, gather and refine requirements, assess priorities, and translate business needs into clear technical requirements for engineering teams.
This position is ideal for a business analyst with strong experience in HR systems, employee lifecycle processes, Workday HCM, solution design, and cross-functional stakeholder communication who thrives in a fast-paced environment managing multiple initiatives at once.
The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with HR business partners, People Operations, engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to support enhancement requests, solution design, UAT coordination, technical documentation, and long-term HR technology initiatives. This role plays a key part in improving employee lifecycle processes through scalable, compliant, and efficient technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
HR Systems & Enhancement Request Management
- Review, refine, and support project and enhancement requests across HR technology and employee lifecycle applications
- Communicate status updates, blockers, and required follow-up information clearly and consistently
- Help drive progress across multiple requests while balancing priorities across HR, People Operations, and engineering teams
Stakeholder Partnership & Requirements Gathering
- Partner with HR business stakeholders, People Operations teams, and requestors to define problem statements, business priorities, and success criteria
- Gather, organize, and refine requirements for HR technology projects and enhancement requests
- Translate business needs into complete and actionable technical requirements for engineering partners
Impact Assessment & Governance
- Validate business justification and impact statements submitted for enhancement requests
- Apply governance principles and impact scoring frameworks to support prioritization
- Support decision-making within HR compliance, policy, and system governance frameworks
Solution Design & Technical Documentation
- Collaborate with solution designers to draft functional and business requirements documents, including FRDs and BRDs
- Support solution refinement across multiple systems and integrations within the employee lifecycle domain
- Ensure requirements are aligned with business processes, system constraints, and long-term architecture goals
Testing, UAT & Implementation Support
- Plan and organize UAT activities for HR system enhancements and implementations
- Coordinate internal testing and gather feedback from stakeholders
- Support hypercare operations and issue resolution for HR technology launches and updates
System Navigation & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Quickly become familiar with multiple HR tools and integrated applications including Workday, Salesforce, and DocuSign/SpringCM
- Research documentation, connect with SMEs, and follow integration patterns to gather needed information
- Partner across HR, technical, and operational teams to answer follow-up questions and unblock progress
Process Optimization & Escalation Management
- Learn, follow, and help improve enhancement request and project processes within the HR technology environment
- Handle escalations from stakeholders with professionalism, empathy, and strong prioritization judgment
- Identify opportunities for workflow improvement, automation, and process efficiency across employee lifecycle systems
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Resources Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in HR systems, business analysis, or HR technology roles
- Demonstrated track record of supporting HR technology implementations, process improvements, and cross-functional system initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with HR systems, HRIS, or HCM platforms
- Deep understanding of the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, career development, compensation, benefits administration, time and leave management, and offboarding
- Strong experience translating HR business processes into technical requirements and system solutions
- Experience supporting HR technology implementations and system enhancements across multiple applications
- Strong experience in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder communication
- Ability to manage multiple requests and projects simultaneously while maintaining strong organization and follow-through
- Advanced problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a complex systems environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams
- Expert understanding of solution design and business systems governance within the HR domain
- Experience with UAT planning and execution
- Proficiency in drafting BRDs, FRDs, process documentation, and workflow requirements
- Knowledge of system integration patterns, API management, and enterprise application architecture
- Understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance considerations within HR systems
Workday / HR Systems Expertise
- Deep knowledge of employee lifecycle processes and Workday HCM modules
- Experience with Workday configuration and understanding of functional areas such as security, business processes, and reporting
- Knowledge of Workday integrations, including Studio, EIB, and WWS APIs
- Experience with Workday data management, calculated fields, and custom reporting
- Thorough knowledge of Workday security provisioning
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Salesforce Knowledge
- Experience with the Salesforce platform for HR systems integration and case management
- Understanding of Salesforce Service Cloud for employee support workflows
- Knowledge of Salesforce AI capabilities, including Agentforce and Einstein, for automation opportunities
- Experience with Salesforce–Workday integrations and data synchronization
AI Tools & Automation
- Knowledge of or hands-on experience with AI tools, conversational AI, workflow automation, and process optimization
- Experience implementing AI-enabled processes and solutions within the HR technology stack
- Understanding of automation opportunities across employee lifecycle workflows
- Familiarity with AI-enabled HR technologies and digital transformation initiatives
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Workday HCM and/or Salesforce certifications strongly preferred
- Experience with DocuSign/SpringCM for document automation and employee onboarding
- Experience with change control boards and HR technology governance processes
- Project management experience supporting HR system implementations
- Experience with global HR operations and multi-entity configurations
- Strong ability to multitask and prioritize across multiple HR technology initiatives
