Inspects buildings for fire and life safety and fire protection systems to determine their compliance with local or international building codes. Buildings include Commercial, Industrial, Residential, and Hospitality sectors. Fire protection systems include fire suppression and fire detection and alarm systems. Reads and interprets building codes, technical manuals, drawings, instructions, and specifications. Identifies records and reports all deviations using tools provided. Involves travel and meeting and communicating with building owners and managers regarding codes, inspection procedures, and other issues pertaining to code compliance programs and services; responds to questions, complaints and/or requests for information; and explains and interprets policies and procedures, ordinances and codes. Follows up to verify that corrections of violations have been made and takes appropriate action to ensure compliance. Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards; reviews new codes and changes to existing codes; maintains an awareness of new methods, materials, trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; attends seminars, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate. The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary.
