Biochemist — AI Data Trainer About The Role Your deep expertise in biochemistry is exactly what the next generation of AI needs. At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more scientifically rigorous AI models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to help us get there. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your knowledge of protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics directly shapes how AI reasons about life science. No prior AI experience required — just deep domain expertise and a sharp analytical mind. Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Design Expert-Level Problems — Craft advanced biochemistry challenges across domains like proteomics, nucleic acid chemistry, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI reasoning. Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical responses that serve as gold-standard benchmarks for AI model training. Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and quantitative analyses for scientific accuracy, safety, and logical soundness. Sharpen AI Reasoning — Identify specific failures in AI reasoning — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied kinetic models — and provide structured feedback that directly improves model performance. Who You Are PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field (completed or in final stages) Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics Ability to communicate complex biochemical and chemical concepts clearly in written form High attention to detail when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on an async, flexible schedule No prior AI or machine learning experience required Nice to Have Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review Familiarity with computational tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST Background in scientific writing, curriculum development, or technical communication Why Join Us Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top AI research labs and teams Fully remote and async — work when and where it suits you Freelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually stimulating work Gain firsthand exposure to how advanced large language models are built and refined Contribute to AI that gets life science right — your expertise genuinely matters Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
