Biochemist – AI Data Trainer About The Role Your years of rigorous biochemistry training are more valuable than ever — and not just in the lab. Alignerr partners with the world's leading AI research teams to build and refine cutting-edge scientific AI models, and we need expert biochemists to help us do it right. In this fully remote contract role, you'll apply your deep knowledge of protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics to challenge, audit, and improve how advanced AI systems reason through complex life science problems. This is a rare opportunity to influence AI at a foundational level — using the expertise you already have. What You'll Do Design Advanced Problems — Craft challenging biochemistry problems across domains such as nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance. Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that serve as the scientific standard for AI reasoning in life sciences. Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical reasoning for technical accuracy, scientific validity, and safety. Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors in AI outputs — such as incorrect stoichiometry, misapplied stereochemistry, or flawed metabolic logic — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance. Who You Are Hold a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field Deep expertise in one or more core areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics Able to communicate highly technical biochemical and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in writing Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols Self-directed and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous environment No prior AI experience required Nice to Have Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific review workflows Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST Background in bioinformatics or computational biology Why Join Us Work on high-impact AI projects alongside top research labs and scientists Fully remote — work from anywhere, on your own schedule Flexible weekly commitment of 10–40 hours to fit around your existing work or research Autonomy to apply your scientific expertise in a novel and intellectually stimulating context Contribute to AI that will shape the future of scientific discovery and research Potential for ongoing contract extension based on performance
