Auto Dealership Bookkeeper

Role Description

Senior Bookkeeper - Auto Dealership Accounting (Remote)

We're looking for an experienced bookkeeper who knows car or motorcycles dealership accounting inside and out. You'll work exclusively with dealership clients, handling everything from vehicle sales to lender funding to merchant reconciliations, all in QuickBooks Online. This is a fully remote, long-term position.

What You'll Do

· Manage dealership books in QuickBooks Online (QBO)

· Record vehicle sales from Buyer's Orders — sale price, down payments, trade-ins, dealer fees, taxes, tag/title, and backend products (warranties, GAP, etc.)

· Manage Accounts Receivable — record customer down payments, cash receipts, and credit card payments, and apply them correctly to customer balances

· Match dealer logs to QBO postings, bank deposits, and merchant accounts

· Process lender funding and tie it back to deals and bank deposits

· Record vehicle inventory purchases, auction buys, and floorplan activity

· Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and merchant accounts monthly

· Classify inventory, COGS, fees, and expenses correctly

· Help with month-end close and financial reporting

· Catch and resolve discrepancies before they become problems

What You Need

· 3+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience

· 2+ years specifically in car or motorcycle dealership accounting

· Advanced QuickBooks Online skills

· Strong understanding of Buyer's Orders and how deals are structured

· Experience managing AR and applying payments from dealer logs

· Solid grasp of inventory accounting, floorplan financing, and the deal funding lifecycle

· High attention to detail, strong reconciliation skills, and ability to work independently

Nice to Have

· Experience at an outsourced bookkeeping or accounting firm

· Experience managing multiple dealership clients at once

· Bilingual - English and Spanish
