Job Description This is a remote position. We are seeking a methodical Assistant Accountant residing in Mumbai or Pune, India to join our growing operations team. In this remote role, you will be responsible for maintaining the financial records of multiple small business clients with accuracy, discretion, and timeliness. You will work collaboratively with both internal teams and clients to ensure reconciliations, expense classifications, and financial documentation are up-to-date and compliant. This is an entry-level role with opportunities for development into an Accountant position based on performance and contribution. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients, including journal entries, ledger maintenance, and reconciliation of bank and credit card statements. Process vendor payments, accounts receivable, and employee reimbursements with precision and timeliness. Categorize and document transactions according to accounting standards and client specifications. Collaborate on the generation of monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and budget monitoring. Liaise with internal accountants and administrative staff to ensure integrity and continuity in financial records. Monitor and enforce compliance with local taxation and regulatory frameworks. Utilize and adapt to cloud-based accounting platforms (e.g., Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Xero); training will be provided as necessary. Requirements Qualifications and Core Competencies 1 - 3 years of relevant experience in a bookkeeping or accounting support role (internships and contract work will be considered). Fundamental understanding of accounting principles and financial workflows. Competence in spreadsheet analysis and comfort working within cloud-based ecosystems. Exceptional attention to accuracy, numeric literacy, and error-checking discipline. Capacity to manage multiple concurrent priorities with autonomy and accountability.
