ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION General Responsibilities Healthcare Administration faculty members primarily teach students about key areas of the field, including hospital and healthcare systems management, health informatics, healthcare law, and health policy. In addition to teaching, they prepare course materials, conduct research, and carry out administrative responsibilities. Faculty members work under the supervision of the program coordinator or the Vice President, Academic Affairs. Specific Responsibilities The responsibilities of the part-time instructor are outlined below. Instructional Responsibilities Develop and implement instruction for each class period which is consistent with the official course outline. Develop and discuss during the first week of class, a written syllabus to communicate to students, course objectives, grading criteria, assignments, reading materials, and classroom policies. T each the class online using the college’s learning management system, NEO, following examples provided by the administration. Demonstrate respect for student rights as specified in college policy and applicable laws. Submit to Program Directors appropriate text selections in a timely manner . Refer students to tutoring and related student services when appropriate. Evaluation of Students Periodically, evaluate student progress toward meeting course objectives; advise the students about methods of evaluation and the results of the evaluation. Return assignments and examination results in a timely fashion. Assign grades to students in the manner provided by college policy. Curriculum 1. Participate in the development and review of curriculum as needed. Student Advising Advise students enrolled in the instructor’s classes on such matters as: Course content, scope and meaning and learning skills. Collateral or enrichment reading or experience opportunities for further understanding of the course or subject field; C areer alternatives/opportunities related to the subject field. Professional Development Participate in professional development activities required by accreditation or regulatory agencies. Continue to develop professional skills and knowledge. Additional Responsibilities Attend and participate in department/program meetings . Abide by departmental regulations concerning the proper use, care and security of equipment. Keep official records and collect data required by college policy and administrative procedures; submit records and data at times specified by management. Report attendance in class following the protocol for online courses. Qualifications Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field. Experience as a professor or lecturer in Health Administration. Knowledge of curriculum development and assessment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong presentation and teaching skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students.
