Accounts Payable Accountant

Remote Temporary Accounts Payable Associate (CA, FL, HI based only)

Our team is looking for a Temporary Accounts Payable Associate to assist with daily financial operations and vendor payment activities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment where accuracy and responsiveness are essential.

This position is fully remote.

Position Overview

In this role, you will support the accounting team by handling invoice administration, payment coordination, expense tracking, and vendor communication. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities

Payment & Invoice Administration

• Receive, review, and process invoices for payment.
• Confirm invoices contain appropriate approvals and supporting backup.
• Assign general ledger coding and enter financial information into the accounting system.
• Coordinate check requests and electronic payments within established timelines.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies related to billing, purchase orders, or payment records.
• Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable files and documentation.
• Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on outstanding issues when necessary.

Vendor & Internal Support

• Communicate with vendors and employees regarding payment questions and reimbursement matters.
• Assist with maintaining accurate supplier records and account information.
• Review and process employee expense submissions in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting accounts payable functions.
• Prior experience within a legal or professional services environment is a plus.
• Ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines consistently.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented approach.
• High level of accuracy and strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a remote team environment.
• Experience using Aderant Expert or related accounting platforms preferred.
