Job Description This is a remote position. Accountant Join a growing real estate accounting team that needs a skilled Accounting Associate with hands-on AppFolio experience to support important property management financial workflows. This role is essential for keeping transactions accurate, preparing reporting, and helping client work move forward smoothly with confidence and precision. What You'll Do: Work within AppFolio to support property management accounting workflows. Prepare and assist with month-end financial statements and reporting. Record, review, and categorize financial transactions accurately. Support bookkeeping, general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes. Identify billing, payment, or transaction discrepancies and escalate questions when needed. Navigate related accounting platforms such as QBO, Bill.com, Keeper, Teamwork, and other internal systems. Use company task management software Teamwork. Ask questions proactively when instructions, transactions, or platform workflows are unclear. Follow internal procedures for communication, productivity tracking, and daily work expectations. Who You'll Work With: Be an integral part of a growing real estate accounting team, supporting property management financial operations and working closely with team members who rely on accurate reporting, clear communication, and dependable accounting follow-through. Who We're Looking For: AppFolio Accounting: Hands-on experience using AppFolio for real estate accounting is required. Reconciliation: Proven ability to reconcile bank, trust, escrow, security deposit, tenant, owner, and balance sheet accounts. Problem-Solving: Ability to independently investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and resolve issues within AppFolio. Financial Reporting & Close: Experience preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements, completing month-end and year-end close, reviewing general ledger activity, and posting adjusting entries. Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accrual accounting, with experience beyond basic accounts payable and receivable functions. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; CPA is not required. Excel Skills: Strong Excel skills for reconciliations, analysis, and reporting. Communication: Strong written communication skills and the ability to ask thoughtful, clarifying questions when needed. Independence & Accountability: Ability to manage multiple priorities, remain responsive, track time accurately, and complete work reliably with minimal oversight. U.S. Experience: Experience working U.S. business hours or with U.S.-based teams is preferred. Why Join Us?
