The Role

The Management Accountant supports the day to day finance function for the Client’s online learner instructor marketplace, with primary ownership of transactional accounting and shared responsibility for month end close activities across our Australian and UK entities.

Reporting to both the Senior Management Accountant and the CFO, the role ensures the integrity of the general ledger, the accuracy and timeliness of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations, and the smooth running of routine month end tasks. The successful candidate will take on increasing responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, fixed asset accounting, and draft management reports, working remotely with core hours aligned to Australian time.

The Responsibilities:

Financial Control & Reporting

• Complete month-end close within five working days, including all balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare consolidated management reports using Xero, Fathom, and Google Sheets; present insights via Google Slides.
• Maintain Xero general ledger integrity, tracking categories, and bank feeds.

Bookkeeping & Transaction Processing

• Manage finance inboxes and process supplier invoices, employee reimbursements, and customer receipts.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and oversee AP/AR ageing; lead automation and process improvements.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Management

• Coordinate annual budgets and rolling quarterly forecasts; analyse variances with cost centre owners.
• Maintain 13-week cash flow forecasts and monitor FX exposures and intercompany loans.

Compliance & Audit

• Prepare statutory accounts and year-end audit packs for Australian entities; liaise with external auditors.
• Manage BAS, VAT, and corporate tax compliance with support from external advisers.

Governance & Process Improvement

• Develop and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls aligned with best practice.

You Must Have:

• 1 - 3 years of post-qualification accounting experience in commerce or Big-4/ second-tier audit | PH CPA preferred
• Proven Xero proficiency (multi-currency, at least 5 years) and advanced Google Sheets skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, particularly in a remote working environment.
• Proactive and solutions-oriented, with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Able to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Commercially minded with strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with Australian (AASB), Fathom, and Looker Studio
• Exposure to tech, SaaS, or online marketplace environments
